Fantasy Castles

This week the children have been busy learning about castles from around the world and who might live in them.  They were particularly interested in what witches and wizards might do and were very excited about all of the magic that they make!  Have a look at the pictures below showing our lovely learning.

We loved using books to help us design and make a castle using the big bricks.

We made wands that each had their own special magic power.

We wrote about the characters that were in the story 'Room on the Broom' by Julia Donaldson.

We sequenced pictures from the story too and practised re-telling the events.

Carrie's magic wand makes people laugh so much that they fall over!

Here is the castle that The An designed.  He later built it with his friends and some knights moved in with their horses.

We worked together to build castles using 3D shapes.  In maths this week we have been learning their names.

Can you name the 3D shapes that Manar used to build her castle?

Minh Quan enjoyed looking at castles from the past.

In phonics some of the children dug sounds up in the sand pit and put them together to make words.

We have been enjoying using story language to make up stories about witches and dragons using the story telling pebbles.

Here Dung has built a castle from a picture he saw.

We are al looking forward to learning more about castles next week and have something very exciting planned for the last day of term!
